Biography

Pam - homepage.jpg

Pam began her career in New York City as an editor at Harper's Magazine in 1988, working her way up from fact-checker to associate editor. Increasingly senior editorial roles followed at leading publications, including Parents Magazine and then at Child Magazine, where she served as editor-in-chief in the 1990s. Her keen understanding of the needs and interests of families shaped content that resonated with millions of readers.

As the digital revolution ushered in new opportunities, Pam joined eToys.com as vice president and editorial director, leading a team of more than 100 writers, photographers, and designers in the rapidly-growing online toy market. She rode the early dot-com wave with eToys in Los Angeles, then brought her expertise back to New York, joining Scholastic as vice president and editor-in-chief of Parenting and Family Publishing. A desire to explore new subjects led her to produce lifestyle and cookbooks at Downtown Bookworks for prestigious clients including HarperCollins, Chronicle, and Time Inc. She worked for Sesame Street’s Joan Ganz Cooney Center as director of strategic partnerships in the late aughts.

Pam’s growing professional interest in the culinary world led her to Chef Harold Villarosa and Restauranteur Jacob Hadjigorges, with whom she collaborated to introduce New York City youth to the hospitality industry. She wrote and implemented classroom curricula and formulated a restaurant-based internship for their non-profits, Insurgo and Jacob’s Pickles family foundation, Jacob's Digs. This included opportunities for event-based hospitality for students from underserved NYC public schools.

Pam and her husband, Paul Kligfield, relocated to Saratoga Springs in 2019. That marked a new chapter for Pam, allowing her to focus on her passions with fresh energy, dividing her time among the culinary, publishing, and non-profit worlds.  Her adult sons in Brooklyn provide the best reason for frequent trips back. From the heart of New York City to the vibrant arts scene of Saratoga Springs, Pam’s career has been a testament to her adaptability, creativity, and drive. She continues to bring her experience and passion to new projects and collaborations.
